  8. And David saith, `What--to me and to you, O sons of Zeruiah, that ye are to me to-day for an adversary? to-day is any man put to death in Israel? for have I not known that to-day I am king over Israel?'

  9. And the king saith unto Shimei, `Thou dost not die;' and the king sweareth to him.

  10. and the thing is sought out, and found, and they are hanged both of them on a tree, and it is written in the book of the Chronicles before the king.

  11. And Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor did question him, saying, `Art thou the king of the Jews!' And Jesus said to him, `Thou sayest.'

  12. and having plaited him a crown out of thorns they put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand, and having kneeled before him, they were mocking him, saying, `Hail, the king of the Jews.'

  13. And having spit on him, they took the reed, and were smiting on his head;

  14. and began to accuse him, saying, `This one we found perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying himself to be Christ a king.'

  15. And Pilate questioned him, saying, `Thou art the king of the Jews?' and he answering him, said, `Thou dost say it .'

  16. And there was also a superscription written over him, in letters of Greek, and Roman, and Hebrew, `This is the King of the Jews.'

  17. From this time was Pilate seeking to release him, and the Jews were crying out, saying, `If this one thou mayest release, thou art not a friend of Caesar; every one making himself a king, doth speak against Caesar.'

  18. and it was the preparation of the passover, and as it were the sixth hour, and he saith to the Jews, `Lo, your king!'

  19. and they cried out, `Take away, take away, crucify him;' Pilate saith to them, `Your king shall I crucify?' the chief priests answered, `We have no king except Caesar.'

  20. And Pilate also wrote a title, and put it on the cross, and it was written, `Jesus the Nazarene, the king of the Jews;'

  21. whom Jason hath received; and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying another to be king--Jesus.'
