Simon
Also known as: Peter, Cephas, Simeon
Verses Mentioning Simon
I also heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter, kill and eat!’
He told us how he had seen the angel standing in his house, and saying to him, ‘Send to Joppa, and get Simon, who is called Peter,
When he saw that it pleased the Judeans, he proceeded to seize Peter also. This was during the days of unleavened bread.
Peter therefore was kept in the prison, but constant prayer was made by the assembly to God for him.
The same night when Herod was about to bring him out, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound with two chains. Guards in front of the door kept the prison.
And behold, an angel of the Lord stood by him, and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side, and woke him up, saying, “Stand up quickly!” His chains fell off from his hands.
When Peter had come to himself, he said, “Now I truly know that the Lord has sent out his angel and delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from everything the Jewish people were expecting.”
When Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a maid named Rhoda came to answer.
When she recognized Peter’s voice, she didn’t open the gate for joy, but ran in, and reported that Peter was standing in front of the gate.
But Peter continued knocking. When they had opened, they saw him, and were amazed.
Now as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers about what had become of Peter.
When there had been much discussion, Peter rose up and said to them, “Brothers, you know that a good while ago God made a choice among you, that by my mouth the nations should hear the word of the Good News, and believe.
Simeon has reported how God first visited the nations, to take out of them a people for his name.
Now I mean this, that each one of you says, “I follow Paul,” “I follow Apollos,” “I follow Kefa,” and, “I follow Messiah.”
whether Paul, or Apollos, or Kefa, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come. All are yours,
Have we no right to take along a wife who is a believer, even as the rest of the emissaries, and the brothers of the Lord, and Kefa?
and that he appeared to Kefa, then to the twelve.
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem to visit Peter, and stayed with him fifteen days.
but to the contrary, when they saw that I had been entrusted with the Good News for the uncircumcision, even as Peter with the Good News for the circumcision
(for he who appointed Peter to be an emissary of the circumcision appointed me also to the Gentiles);
and when they perceived the grace that was given to me, Jacob and Kefa and Yochanan, they who were reputed to be pillars, gave to me and Barnabas the right hand of fellowship, that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the circumcision.
But when Peter came to Antioch, I resisted him to his face, because he stood condemned.
But when I saw that they didn’t walk uprightly according to the truth of the Good News, I said to Peter before them all, “If you, being a Jew, live as the Gentiles do, and not as the Jews do, why do you compel the Gentiles to live as the Jews do?
Peter, an emissary of Yeshua the Messiah, to the chosen ones who are living as foreigners in the Diaspora in Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
Simon Peter, a servant and emissary of Yeshua the Messiah, to those who have obtained a like precious faith with us in the righteousness of our God and Savior, Yeshua the Messiah:
