  1. Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

  12. The best of them is as a brier: the most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge: the day of thy watchmen and thy visitation cometh; now shall be their perplexity.

  13. The just LORD is in the midst thereof; he will not do iniquity: every morning doth he bring his judgment to light, he faileth not; but the unjust knoweth no shame.

  14. I said, Surely thou wilt fear me, thou wilt receive instruction; so their dwelling should not be cut off, howsoever I punished them: but they rose early, and corrupted all their doings.

  15. Then answered Haggai, and said, So is this people, and so is this nation before me, saith the LORD; and so is every work of their hands; and that which they offer there is unclean.

  16. The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

  17. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!

  18. For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

  19. And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:

  20. To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

  21. For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

  22. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

  23. And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

  24. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
