  1. And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.

  2. Also he built altars in the house of the LORD, whereof the LORD had said, In Jerusalem shall my name be for ever.

  3. And he built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD.

  4. And he set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, In this house, and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen before all the tribes of Israel, will I put my name for ever:

  5. ¶ Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD his God.

And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.

  7. And they put it in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of the LORD, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the house of the LORD, to repair and amend the house:

  8. Even to the artificers and builders gave they it, to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.

  9. And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and other of the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of musick.

  10. Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and were overseers of all that wrought the work in any manner of service: and of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and porters.

  11. And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.

  12. And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.

  13. Remember thy congregation, which thou hast purchased of old; the rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed; this mount Zion, wherein thou hast dwelt.

  15. My soul longeth, yea, even fainteth for the courts of the LORD: my heart and my flesh crieth out for the living God.

  16. Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.

  17. Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: they will be still praising thee. Selah.

  18. Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee; in whose heart are the ways of them.

  19. Who passing through the valley of Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools.

  20. They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.

  21. How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;

  22. Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;

  23. I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,

  24. Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.

  25. And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
