  1. ¶ Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

  2. ¶ God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets,

  3. For if the word spoken by angels was stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just recompence of reward;

  9. And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

  10. They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

  11. (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

  12. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

  13. God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

  14. Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience.

  15. ¶ Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:

  16. Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

  17. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

  18. ¶ But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

  19. And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of.

  20. And Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,

  21. ¶ The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified it by his angel unto his servant John:

  22. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God.

  23. But in the days of the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished, as he hath declared to his servants the prophets.

  24. ¶ And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand two hundred and threescore days, clothed in sackcloth.

  25. ¶ And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
