  1. When thou art bidden of any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honourable man than thou be bidden of him;

  2. And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, Give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room.

  3. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

  5. Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

  9. Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

  10. And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;

  11. Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.

  12. Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.

  13. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

  14. For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.

  15. For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

  16. For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

  17. Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

  18. That no flesh should glory in his presence.

  19. ¶ Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.

  20. And these things, brethren, I have in a figure transferred to myself and to Apollos for your sakes; that ye might learn in us not to think of men above that which is written, that no one of you be puffed up for one against another.

  21. ¶ For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

  22. Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

  23. We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.

  24. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

  25. Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump?
