  1. Then the king of Assyria commanded, saying, Carry thither one of the priests whom ye brought from thence; and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the manner of the God of the land.

  2. Then one of the priests whom they had carried away from Samaria came and dwelt in Bethel, and taught them how they should fear the LORD.

  3. Sing unto the LORD, all the earth; shew forth from day to day his salvation.

  13. And Jonah began to enter into the city a day's journey, and he cried, and said, Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown.

  14. ¶ So the people of Nineveh believed God, and proclaimed a fast, and put on sackcloth, from the greatest of them even to the least of them.

  15. For word came unto the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and he laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

  16. And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:

  17. But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands.

  18. Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

  19. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

  20. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

  21. And the gospel must first be published among all nations.

  22. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

  23. And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

  24. And ye are witnesses of these things.

  25. ¶ On the morrow, as they went on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour:
