  1. And these are they by the way side, where the word is sown; but when they have heard, Satan cometh immediately, and taketh away the word that was sown in their hearts.

  2. And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;

  3. And have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for the word's sake, immediately they are offended.

  4. And these are they which are sown among thorns; such as hear the word,

  5. And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.

  6. They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

  7. And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.

  8. ¶ And it came to pass, that, as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

  9. And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

  10. And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

  11. Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

  12. And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.

  13. And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

  14. But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?

  15. Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.

  16. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.

  17. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.

  18. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.

  19. A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

  20. I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

  21. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
