  1. And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

  2. ¶ And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.

  3. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

  4. ¶ The earth also was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.

  5. And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.

  6. ¶ And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

  7. Shall mortal man be more just than God? shall a man be more pure than his maker?

  8. Behold, he put no trust in his servants; and his angels he charged with folly:

  9. How much less in them that dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, which are crushed before the moth?

  10. I know it is so of a truth: but how should man be just with God?

  11. If he will contend with him, he cannot answer him one of a thousand.

  12. If I be wicked, why then labour I in vain?

  13. If I wash myself with snow water, and make my hands never so clean;

  14. Yet shalt thou plunge me in the ditch, and mine own clothes shall abhor me.

  15. What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?

  16. Behold, he putteth no trust in his saints; yea, the heavens are not clean in his sight.

  17. How much more abominable and filthy is man, which drinketh iniquity like water?

  18. How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean that is born of a woman?

  19. Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight.

  20. How much less man, that is a worm? and the son of man, which is a worm?

  21. ¶ To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good.

  22. The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God.

  23. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.

  24. ¶ To the chief Musician upon Mahalath, Maschil, A Psalm of David. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.

  25. God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
