  1. ¶ As for me, behold, my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father of many nations.

  2. Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee.

  3. And I will make thee exceeding fruitful, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.

  9. And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house, or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.

  10. He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh for an everlasting covenant.

  11. And the uncircumcised man child whose flesh of his foreskin is not circumcised, that soul shall be cut off from his people; he hath broken my covenant.

  12. And Abraham was ninety years old and nine, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

  13. And Ishmael his son was thirteen years old, when he was circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin.

  14. In the selfsame day was Abraham circumcised, and Ishmael his son.

  15. And all the men of his house, born in the house, and bought with money of the stranger, were circumcised with him.

  16. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac.

  17. And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him.

  18. And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, The king desireth not any dowry, but an hundred foreskins of the Philistines, to be avenged of the king's enemies. But Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

  20. Wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and slew of the Philistines two hundred men; and David brought their foreskins, and they gave them in full tale to the king, that he might be the king's son in law. And Saul gave him Michal his daughter to wife.

  21. And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

  22. And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.

  23. And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.

  24. And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.

  25. But there rose up certain of the sect of the Pharisees which believed, saying, That it was needful to circumcise them, and to command them to keep the law of Moses.
