Therefore also said the wisdom of God, I will send them prophets and apostles, and [some] of them they shall slay and persecute:

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
¶ Wisdom hath builded her house, she hath hewn out her seven pillars:
She hath sent forth her maidens: she crieth upon the highest places of the city,
Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, [even] by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
¶ Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
¶ I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.
And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and [some] of you shall they cause to be put to death.
And ye shall be hated of all [men] for my name's sake.
Of the Jews five times received I forty [stripes] save one.
Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
¶ Now about that time Herod the king stretched forth [his] hands to vex certain of the church.
And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.
¶ Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and [some] of them ye shall kill and crucify; and [some] of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute [them] from city to city:
Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation.
And I persecuted this way unto the death, binding and delivering into prisons both men and women.
As also the high priest doth bear me witness, and all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.
