  1. And by the commandement of the King these me which had accused Daniel, were brought, and were cast into the denne of lions, euen they, their children, and their wiues: and the lyons had the mastry of them, and brake all their bones a pieces, or euer they came at the groud of the denne.

  2. Thou also shalt be saued through the blood of thy couenant. I haue loosed thy prisoners out of the pit wherein is no water.

  3. Agree with thine aduersarie quickly, whiles thou art in the way with him, lest thine aduersarie deliuer thee to the Iudge, and the Iudge deliuer thee to ye sergeant, and thou be cast into prison.

  4. But whosoeuer shall offend one of these litle ones which beleeue in me, it were better for him, that a milstone were hanged about his necke, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

  5. And because he had nothing to pay, his Lord commanded him to be solde, and his wife, and his children, and all that he had, and the dette to be payed.

  6. So his Lord was wroth, and deliuered him to the tormentours, till he should pay all that was due to him.

  7. And shall deliuer him to the Gentiles, to mocke, and to scourge, and to crucifie him, but the third day he shall rise againe.

  8. And will cut him off, and giue him his portion with hypocrites: there shalbe weeping, and gnashing of teeth.

  9. Thus let he Barabbas loose vnto them, and scourged Iesus, and deliuered him to be crucified.

  10. Then the souldiers of the gouernour tooke Iesus into the common hall, and gathered about him the whole band,

  11. And they stripped him, and put about him a skarlet robe,

  12. And platted a crowne of thornes, and put it vpon his head, and a reede in his right hand, and bowed their knees before him, and mocked him, saying, God saue thee King of the Iewes,

  13. And spitted vpon him, and tooke a reede, and smote him on the head.

  14. Thus when they had mocked him, they tooke the robe from him, and put his owne rayment on him, and led him away to crucifie him.

  15. And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, named Simon: him they compelled to beare his crosse.

  16. And when they came vnto the place called Golgotha, (that is to say, the place of dead mens skulles)

  17. They gaue him vineger to drinke, mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drinke.

  18. And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, and did cast lottes, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the Prophet, They deuided my garments among them, and vpon my vesture did cast lottes.

  19. So when Herod heard it, he said, It is Iohn whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.

  20. And immediatly the King sent the hangman, and gaue charge that his head shoulde be brought in. So he went and beheaded him in the prison,

  21. And while they continued asking him, hee lift himselfe vp, and sayde vnto them, Let him that is among you without sinne, cast the first stone at her.

  22. Then sayde Pilate vnto them, Take yee him, and iudge him after your owne Lawe. Then the Iewes sayde vnto him, It is not lawfull for vs to put any man to death.

  23. And cast him out of the citie, and stoned him: and the witnesses layd downe their clothes at a yong mans feete, named Saul.

  24. And they stoned Steuen, who called on God, and said, Lord Iesus, receiue my spirit.

  25. And he killed Iames the brother of Iohn with the sword.
