  1. Now when Iaakob was left him selfe alone, there wrestled a man with him vnto the breaking of the day.

  2. And he sawe that he could not preuaile against him: therefore he touched the holowe of his thigh, and the holowe of Iaakobs thigh was loosed, as he wrestled with him.

  3. And he saide, Let me goe, for the morning appeareth. Who answered, I will not let thee go except thou blesse me.

  4. Then said he vnto him, What is thy name? And he said, Iaakob.

  5. Then said he, Thy name shalbe called Iaakob no more, but Israel: because thou hast had power with God, thou shalt also preuaile with men.

  6. Seeke the Lord and his strength: seeke his face continually.

  7. And say ye, Saue vs, O God, our saluation, and gather vs, and deliuer vs from the heathen, that we may prayse thine holy Name, and glorie in thy praise.

  8. If my people, among whome my Name is called vpon, doe humble them selues, and praye, and seeke my presence, and turne from their wicked wayes, then will I heare in heauen, and be mercifull to their sinne, and wil heale their land:

  9. The we prayed vnto our God, and set watchmen by them, day and night, because of them.

  10. When thou saidest, Seeke ye my face, mine heart answered vnto thee, O Lord, I will seeke thy face.

  11. Reioyce in his holy Name: let the heart of them that seeke the Lord, reioyce.

  12. Seeke the Lord and his strength: seeke his face continually.

  13. The Lord is neere vnto all that call vpon him: yea, to all that call vpon him in trueth.

  14. The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination to the Lord: but the prayer of the righteous is acceptable vnto him.

  15. For as a dreame commeth by the multitude of businesse: so the voyce of a foole is in the multitude of wordes.

  16. Seeke ye the Lord while he may be found: call ye vpon him while he is neere.

  17. Let vs lift vp our hearts with our handes vnto God in the heauens.

  18. And had power ouer the Angel, and preuailed: he wept and praied vnto him: he founde him in Beth-el, and there he spake with vs.

  19. And I will powre vpon the house of Dauid, and vpon the inhabitants of Ierusalem the Spirite of grace and of compassion, and they shall looke vpon me, whom they haue pearced, and they shall lament for him, as one mourneth for his onely sonne, and be sorie for him as one is sorie for his first borne.

  20. And when thou prayest, be not as the hypocrites: for they loue to stand, and pray in the Synagogues, and in the corners of the streetes, because they would be seene of men. Verely I say vnto you, they haue their rewarde.

  21. But when thou prayest, enter into thy chamber and when thou hast shut thy doore, pray vnto thy Father which is in secret, and thy Father which seeth in secret, shall rewarde thee openly.

  22. Also when ye pray, vse no vaine repetitions as the Heathen: for they thinke to be heard for their much babbling.

  23. Be ye not like them therefore: for your Father knoweth whereof ye haue neede, before ye aske of him.

  24. After this maner therefore pray ye, Our father which art in heauen, halowed be thy name.

  25. Thy Kingdome come. Thy will be done euen in earth, as it is in heauen.
