  1. And they haue not serued thee in their kingdome, and in thy great goodnesse that thou shewedst vnto them, and in the large and fat lande which thou diddest set before them, and haue not conuerted from their euill workes.

  2. Beholde, we are seruants this day, and the lande that thou gauest vnto our fathers, to eate the fruite thereof, and the goodnesse thereof, beholde, we are seruants therein.

  3. And it yeeldeth much fruit vnto the kings whom thou hast set ouer vs, because of our sinnes: and they haue dominion ouer our bodyes and ouer our cattell at their pleasure, and we are in great affliction.

  4. And they prouoked him to anger with their high places, and mooued him to wrath with their grauen images.

  5. God heard this and was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel,

  6. So that hee forsooke the habitation of Shilo, euen the Tabernacle where hee dwelt among men,

  7. And deliuered his power into captiuitie, and his beautie into the enemies hand.

  8. And hee gaue vp his people to the sworde, and was angrie with his inheritance.

  9. The fire deuoured their chosen men, and their maides were not praised.

  10. Their Priestes fell by the sworde, and their widowes lamented not.

  11. Neither destroied they the people, as the Lord had commanded them,

  12. But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their workes,

  13. And serued their idoles, which were their ruine.

  14. Yea, they offered their sonnes, and their daughters vnto deuils,

  15. And shed innocent blood, euen the blood of their sonnes, and of their daughters, whome they offred vnto the idoles of Canaan, and the lande was defiled with blood.

  16. Thus were they steined with their owne woorkes, and went a whoring with their owne inuentions.

  17. Therefore was the wrath of the Lord kindled against his people, and he abhorred his owne inheritance.

  18. And hee gaue them into the hande of the heathen: and they that hated them, were lordes ouer them.

  19. Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were humbled vnder their hand.

  20. Their idoles are siluer and golde, euen the worke of mens hands.

  21. They haue a mouth and speake not: they haue eyes and see not.

  22. They haue eares and heare not: they haue noses and smelll not.

  23. They haue handes and touche not: they haue feete and walke not: neither make they a sound with their throte.

  24. They that make them are like vnto them: so are all that trust in them.

  25. The idoles of the heathen are siluer and golde, euen the worke of mens handes.
