  1. For even while they were in their kingdom, with the abundant goodness that You had given them, and in the spacious and fertile land that You had set before them, they would not serve You or turn from their wicked ways.

  15. They shed innocent blood— the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, and the land was polluted with blood.

  16. They defiled themselves by their actions and prostituted themselves by their deeds.

  17. So the anger of the LORD burned against His people, and He abhorred His own inheritance.

  18. He delivered them into the hand of the nations, and those who hated them ruled over them.

  19. Their enemies oppressed them, and subdued them under their hand.

  20. Their idols are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.

  21. They have mouths, but cannot speak; they have eyes, but cannot see;

  22. they have ears, but cannot hear; they have noses, but cannot smell;

  23. they have hands, but cannot feel; they have feet, but cannot walk; they cannot even clear their throats.

  24. Those who make them become like them, as do all who trust in them.

  25. The idols of the nations are silver and gold, made by the hands of men.
