  1. If the spirit of him that hath power, ascend upon thee, leave not thy place: because care will make the greatest sins to cease.

  2. But he shall judge the poor with justice, and shall reprove with equity the meek of the earth: and he shall strike the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips he shall slay the wicked.

  16. And whosoever will force thee one mile, go with him other two.

  17. Give to him that asketh of thee, and from him that would borrow of thee turn not away.

  18. You have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thy enemy.

  19. But I say to you, Love your enemies: do good to them that hate you: and pray for them that persecute and calumniate you:

  20. That you may be the children of your Father who is in heaven, who maketh his sun to rise upon the good, and bad, and raineth upon the just and the unjust.

  21. Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: And you shall find rest to your souls.

  22. Tell ye the daughter of Sion: Behold thy king cometh to thee, meek and sitting upon an ass and a colt, the foal of her that is used to the yoke.

  23. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be humbled: and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted.

  24. Then Pilate saith to him: Dost not thou hear how great testimonies they allege against thee?

  25. And he answered him to never a word, so that the governor wondered exceedingly.
