And he blessed them at that time, saying: In thee shall Israel be blessed, and it shall be said: God do to thee as to Ephraim, and as to Manasses. And he set Ephraim before Manasses.

And he said to Joseph, his son: Behold I die, and God will be with you, and will bring you back into the land of your fathers.

And Jacob called his sons, and said to them: Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you the things that shall befall you in the last days.

Gather yourselves together, and hear, O ye sons of Jacob, hearken to Israel, your father:

Cursed be their fury, because it was stubborn: and their wrath, because it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and will scatter them in Israel.

Dan shall judge his people like another tribe in Israel.

His bow rested upon the strong, and the bands of his arms and his hands were loosed, by the hands of the mighty one of Jacob: thence he came forth a pastor, the stone of Israel.

All these are the twelve tribes of Israel: these things their father spoke to them, and he blessed every one with their proper blessings.

And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.

And he commanded his servants, the physicians, to embalm his father.

And he made them swear to him, saying: God will visit you, carry my bones with you out of this place:

And he died, being a hundred and ten years old. And being embalmed, he was laid in a coffin in Egypt.

These are the names of the children of Israel, that went into Egypt with Jacob: they went in every man with his household:

And all the souls that came out of Jacob's thigh, were seventy: but Joseph was in Egypt.

The children of Israel increased, and sprung up into multitudes, and growing exceedingly strong they filled the land.

And he said to his people: Behold the people of the children of Israel are numerous and stronger than we.

But the more they oppressed them, the more they were multiplied and increased.

And the Egyptians hated the children of Israel, and afflicted them and mocked them:

Now after a long time the king of Egypt died: and the children of Israel groaning, cried out because of the works: and their cry went up unto God from the works.

And he heard their groaning, and remembered the covenant which he made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

And the Lord looked upon the children of Israel, and he knew them.

And he said: I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Moses hid his face: for he durst not look at God.

For the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have seen their affliction, wherewith they are oppressed by the Egyptians.

But come, and I will send thee to Pharao, that thou mayst bring forth my people, the children of Israel, out of Egypt.

And Moses said to God: Who am I that I should go to Pharao, and should bring forth the children of Israel out of Egypt?
