Bible Verses About Land

But the tenants seized his servants -- this one they beat up, that one they killed, another they stoned.

So he sent some other servants, more than the first group, and they did the same to them.

Finally, he sent them his son, saying, `My son they will respect.'

But when the tenants saw the son, they said to each other, `This is the heir. Come, let's kill him and take his inheritance!'

So they grabbed him, threw him out of the vineyard and killed him.

Now when the owner of the vineyard comes, what will he do to those tenants?"

They answered him, "He will viciously destroy those vicious men and rent out the vineyard to other tenants who will give him his share of the crop when it's due."

Next Yeshua told the people this parable: “A man planted a vineyard, rented it to tenant-farmers and went away for a long time.

When the time came, he sent a servant to the tenants to receive his share of the crop from the vineyard; but the tenants beat him up and sent him away empty-handed.

He sent another servant; they beat him too, insulted him and sent him away empty-handed.

He sent yet a third; this one they wounded and threw out.

“Then the owner of the vineyard said, ‘What am I to do? I will send my son, whom I love; maybe they will respect him.’

But when the tenants saw him, they discussed it among themselves and said, ‘This is the heir; let’s kill him, so that the inheritance will be ours!’

And they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. “Now what will the owner of the vineyard do to them?

He will come and put an end to those tenants and give the vineyard to others!” When the people heard this, they said, “Heaven forbid!”

But there was a man named Hananyah who, with his wife Shappirah, sold some property

and, with his wife’s knowledge, withheld some of the proceeds for himself; although he did bring the rest to the emissaries.

Then Kefa said, “Why has the Adversary so filled your heart that you lie to the Ruach HaKodesh and keep back some of the money you received for the land?

Before you sold it, the property was yours; and after you sold it, the money was yours to use as you pleased. So what made you decide to do such a thing? You have lied not to human beings but to God!”

On hearing these words, Hananyah fell down dead; and everyone who heard about it was terrified.

The young men got up, wrapped his body in a shroud, carried him out and buried him.

Some three hours later, his wife came in, unaware of what had happened.

Kefa challenged her: “Tell me, is it true that you sold the land for such-and-such a price?” “Yes,” she answered, “that is what we were paid for it.”
