  1. Therefore keep watch, because you do not know when the master of the house will return—whether in the evening, at midnight, when the rooster crows, or in the morning.

  11. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds on watch when he returns. Truly I tell you, he will dress himself to serve and will have them recline at the table, and he himself will come and wait on them.

  12. Even if he comes in the second or third watch of the night and finds them alert, those servants will be blessed.

  13. But understand this: If the homeowner had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would not have let his house be broken into.

  14. You also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour you do not expect.”

  15. “Lord,” said Peter, “are You addressing this parable to us, or to everyone else as well?”

  16. And the Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their portion at the proper time?

  17. Blessed is that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.

  18. Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.

  19. Jesus answered, “See to it that you are not deceived. For many will come in My name, claiming, ‘I am He,’ and, ‘The time is near.’ Do not follow them.

  20. When you hear of wars and rebellions, do not be alarmed. These things must happen first, but the end is not imminent.”

  21. Then He told them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.

  22. There will be great earthquakes, famines, and pestilences in various places, along with fearful sights and great signs from heaven.

  23. But before all this, they will seize you and persecute you. On account of My name they will deliver you to the synagogues and prisons, and they will bring you before kings and governors.

  24. This will be your opportunity to serve as witnesses.

  25. So make up your mind not to worry beforehand how to defend yourselves.
