  13. because the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can it be:

  14. and they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

  15. That is, it is not the children of the flesh that are children of God; but the children of the promise are reckoned for a seed.

  16. Even as it is written, Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.

  17. Howbeit with most of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

  18. Now these things happened unto them by way of example; and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages are come.

  19. And youdid he make alive, when ye were dead through your trespasses and sins,

  20. wherein ye once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the powers of the air, of the spirit that now worketh in the sons of disobedience;

  21. among whom we also all once lived in the lusts of our flesh, doing the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest:—

  22. that ye were at that time separate from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

  23. But now in Christ Jesus ye that once were far off are made nigh in the blood of Christ.

  24. For he is our peace, who made both one, and brake down the middle wall of partition,

  25. This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the Gentiles also walk, in the vanity of their mind,
