  1. But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both young and old, all the people from every quarter;

  2. and they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men that came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

  3. And Lot went out unto them to the door, and shut the door after him.

  4. And he said, I pray you, my brethren, do not so wickedly.

  5. Behold now, I have two daughters that have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing, forasmuch as they are come under the shadow of my roof.

  6. And they said, Stand back. And they said, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and drew near to break the door.

  7. But the men put forth their hand, and brought Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

  8. And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great, so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

  9. And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son-in-law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whomsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of the place:

  10. for we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxed great before Jehovah; and Jehovah hath sent us to destroy it.

  11. And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons-in-law, who married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for Jehovah will destroy the city. But he seemed unto his sons-in-law as one that mocked.

  12. Then Jehovah rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from Jehovah out of heaven;

  13. and he overthrew those cities, and all the Plain, and all the inhabitants of the cities, and that which grew upon the ground.

  14. Then he asked the men of her place, saying, Where is the prostitute, that was at Enaim by the wayside? And they said, There hath been no prostitute here.

  15. And he returned to Judah, and said, I have not found her; and also the men of the place said, There hath been no prostitute here.

  16. There shall be no prostitute of the daughters of Israel, neither shall there be a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

  17. and there were also sodomites in the land: they did according to all the abominations of the nations which Jehovah drove out before the children of Israel.

  18. And he put away the sodomites out of the land, and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

  19. And the remnant of the sodomites, that remained in the days of his father Asa, he put away out of the land.

  20. And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were in the house of Jehovah, where the women wove hangings for the Asherah.

  21. They die in youth, And their lifeperisheth among the unclean.

  22. I will not punish your daughters when they play the harlot, nor your brides when they commit adultery; for the men themselves go apart with harlots, and they sacrifice with the prostitutes; and the people that doth not understand shall be overthrown.

  23. But I say unto you that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

  24. I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom, than for that city.
