  1. But God commendeth his own love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

  2. But not as the trespass, so also is the free gift. For if by the trespass of the one the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift by the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound unto the many.

  3. And not as through one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment came of one unto condemnation, but the free gift came of many trespasses unto justification.

  4. For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; much more shall they that receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one, even Jesus Christ.

  5. So then as through one trespass the judgment came unto all men to condemnation; even so through one act of righteousness the free gift came unto all men to justification of life.

  6. For as through the one man’s disobedience the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the one shall the many be made righteous.

  7. And the law came in besides, that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace did abound more exceedingly:

  8. that, as sin reigned in death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

  9. And not only so; but Rebecca also having conceived by one, even by our father Isaac—

  10. for the children being not yet born, neither having done anything good or bad, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth,

  11. it was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

  12. Even as it is written, Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.

  13. What shall we say then? Is there unrighteousness with God? God forbid.

  14. For he saith to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.

  15. So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that hath mercy.

  16. Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.

  17. But if it is by grace, it is no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace.

  18. I thank my God always concerning you, for the grace of God which was given you in Christ Jesus;

  19. that in everything ye were enriched in him, in all utterance and all knowledge;

  20. even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:

  21. so that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;

  22. who shall also confirm you unto the end, that ye be unreproveable in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

  23. But when it was the good pleasure of God, who separated me, even from my mother’s womb, and called me through his grace,

  24. to reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles; straightway I conferred not with flesh and blood:

  25. having foreordained us unto adoption as sons through Jesus Christ unto himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
