  1. Be confessing to one another the trespasses, and be praying for one another, that ye may be healed; very strong is a working supplication of a righteous man;

  12. for `he who is willing to love life, and to see good days, let him guard his tongue from evil, and his lips--not to speak guile;

  13. let him turn aside from evil, and do good, let him seek peace and pursue it;

  14. because the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and His ears--to their supplication, and the face of the Lord is upon those doing evil;'

  15. but if ye also should suffer because of righteousness, happy are ye ! and of their fear be not afraid, nor be troubled,

  16. no more in the desires of men, but in the will of God, to live the rest of the time in the flesh;

  17. And this same also--all diligence having brought in besides, superadd in your faith the worthiness, and in the worthiness the knowledge,

  18. and in the knowledge the temperance, and in the temperance the endurance, and in the endurance the piety,

  19. and in the piety the brotherly kindness, and in the brotherly kindness the love;

  20. for these things being to you and abounding, do make you neither inert nor unfruitful in regard to the acknowledging of our Lord Jesus Christ,

  21. for he with whom these things are not present is blind, dim-sighted, having become forgetful of the cleansing of his old sins;

  22. and the old world did not spare, but the eighth person, Noah, of righteousness a preacher, did keep, a flood on the world of the impious having brought,

  23. for in seeing and hearing, the righteous man, dwelling among them, day by day the righteous soul with unlawful works was harassing.

  24. and in this we know that we have known him, if his commands we may keep;

  25. he who is saying, `I have known him,' and his command is not keeping, a liar he is, and in him the truth is not;
