  1. And the Spirit expressly speaketh, that in latter times shall certain fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and teachings of demons,

  2. In many parts, and many ways, God of old having spoken to the fathers in the prophets,

  3. for if the word being spoken through messengers did become stedfast, and every transgression and disobedience did receive a just recompense,

  4. and Moses indeed was stedfast in all his house, as an attendant, for a testimony of those things that were to be spoken,

  9. and others of mockings and scourgings did receive trial, and yet of bonds and imprisonment;

  10. they were stoned, they were sawn asunder, they were tried; in the killing of the sword they died; they went about in sheepskins, in goatskins--being destitute, afflicted, injuriously treated,

  11. of whom the world was not worthy; in deserts wandering, and in mountains, and in caves, and in the holes of the earth;

  12. and these all, having been testified to through the faith, did not receive the promise,

  13. God for us something better having provided, that apart from us they might not be made perfect.

  14. An example take ye of the suffering of evil, my brethren, and of the patience, the prophets who did speak in the name of the Lord;

  15. concerning which salvation seek out and search out did prophets who concerning the grace toward you did prophecy,

  16. searching in regard to what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ that was in them was manifesting, testifying beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory after these,

  17. for not by will of man did ever prophecy come, but by the Holy Spirit borne on holy men of God spake.

  18. And there did come also false prophets among the people, as also among you there shall be false teachers, who shall bring in besides destructive sects, and the Master who bought them denying, bringing to themselves quick destruction,

  19. and many shall follow out their destructive ways, because of whom the way of the truth shall be evil spoken of,

  20. And prophesy also to these did the seventh from Adam--Enoch--saying, `Lo, the Lord did come in His saintly myriads,

  21. A revelation of Jesus Christ, that God gave to him, to shew to his servants what things it behoveth to come to pass quickly; and he did signify it , having sent through his messenger to his servant John,

  22. He who is having an ear--let him hear what the Spirit saith to the assemblies: To him who is overcoming--I will give to him to eat of the tree of life that is in the midst of the paradise of God.

  23. but in the days of the voice of the seventh messenger, when he may be about to sound, and the secret of God may be finished, as He did declare to His own servants, to the prophets.

  24. and I will give to My two witnesses, and they shall prophesy days, a thousand, two hundred, sixty, arrayed with sackcloth;

  25. And I heard a voice out of the heaven saying to me, `Write: Happy are the dead who in the Lord are dying from this time!' `Yes, (saith the Spirit,) That they may rest from their labours--and their works do follow them!'
