  1. and if he may come in the second watch, and in the third watch he may come, and may find it so, happy are those servants.

  2. Jesus, therefore, said to them, `When ye may lift up the Son of Man then ye will know that I am he ; and of myself I do nothing, but according as my Father did teach me, these things I speak;

  3. verily, verily, I say to you, If any one may keep my word, death he may not see--to the age.'

  4. it behoveth me to be working the works of Him who sent me while it is day; night doth come, when no one is able to work: --

  5. according as I said to you: My sheep my voice do hear, and I know them, and they follow me,

  6. `If ye love me, my commands keep,

  7. Jesus answered and said to him, `If any one may love me, my word he will keep, and my Father will love him, and unto him we will come, and abode with him we will make;

  8. but that the world may know that I love the Father, and according as the Father gave me command so I do; arise, we may go hence.

  9. if my commandments ye may keep, ye shall remain in my love, according as I the commands of my Father have kept, and do remain in His love;

  10. ye are my friends, if ye may do whatever I command you;

  11. `Ye did not choose out me, but I chose out you, and did appoint you, that ye might go away, and might bear fruit, and your fruit might remain, that whatever ye may ask of the Father in my name, He may give you.

  12. and Peter and John answering unto them said, `Whether it is righteous before God to hearken to you rather than to God, judge ye;

  13. And Peter and the apostles answering, said, `To obey God it behoveth, rather than men;

  14. and thanks to God, that ye were servants of the sin, and--were obedient from the heart to the form of teaching to which ye were delivered up;

  15. for of Him we are workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to good works, which God did before prepare, that in them we may walk.

  16. So that, my beloved, as ye always obey, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, with fear and trembling your own salvation work out,

  17. then I said, Lo, I come, (in a volume of the book it hath been written concerning me,) to do, O God, Thy will;'

  18. for whoever the whole law shall keep, and shall stumble in one point , he hath become guilty of all;

  19. for He who is saying, `Thou mayest not commit adultery,' said also, `Thou mayest do no murder;' and if thou shalt not commit adultery, and shalt commit murder, thou hast become a transgressor of law;

  20. so speak ye and so do, as about by a law of liberty to be judged,

  21. according to a foreknowledge of God the Father, in sanctification of the Spirit, to obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace to you and peace be multiplied!

  22. as obedient children, not fashioning yourselves to the former desires in your ignorance,

  23. and in this we know that we have known him, if his commands we may keep;

  24. he who is saying, `I have known him,' and his command is not keeping, a liar he is, and in him the truth is not;

  25. and whoever may keep his word, truly in him the love of God hath been perfected; in this we know that in him we are.
