Bible Verses About The Canaanites

Canaan became the father of Sidon (his firstborn), Heth,

the Jebusites, the Amorites, the Girgashites,

the Hivites, the Arkites, the Sinites,

the Arvadites, the Zemarites, and the Hamathites. Afterward the families of the Canaanites were spread abroad.

Now the LORD said to Abram, “Get out of your country, and from your relatives, and from your father’s house, to the land that I will show you.

I will make of you a great nation. I will bless you and make your name great. You will be a blessing.

I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. All of the families of the earth will be blessed in you.”

So Abram went, as the LORD had spoken to him. Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he departed out of Haran.

Abram took Sarai his wife, Lot his brother’s son, all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls whom they had gotten in Haran, and they went to go into the land of Canaan. Into the land of Canaan they came.

The LORD said to Abram, after Lot was separated from him, “Now, lift up your eyes, and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward,

for all the land which you see, I will give to you, and to your offspring forever.

I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if a man can number the dust of the earth, then your seed may also be numbered.

Arise, walk through the land in its length and in its breadth; for I will give it to you.”

When you have come into the land which the LORD your God gives you, you shall not learn to imitate the abominations of those nations.

There shall not be found with you anyone who makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices sorcery, or an enchanter, or a sorcerer,

or a charmer, or a consulter with a familiar spirit, or a wizard, or a necromancer.

and she said to the men, “I know that the LORD has given you the land, and that the fear of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land melt away before you.

For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Sea of Suf before you, when you came out of Egypt; and what you did to the two kings of the Amorites, who were beyond the Jordan, to Sihon and to Og, whom you utterly destroyed.

As soon as we had heard it, our hearts melted, neither did there remain any more spirit in any man, because of you: for the LORD your God, he is God in heaven above, and on earth beneath.

After the death of Joshua, the children of Israel asked of the LORD, saying, “Who should go up for us first against the Canaanites, to fight against them?”

The LORD said, “Judah shall go up. Behold, I have delivered the land into his hand.”

Judah said to Simeon his brother, “Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with you into your lot.” So Simeon went with him.

Judah went up, and the LORD delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand. They struck ten thousand men in Bezek.

They found Adoni-Bezek in Bezek, and they fought against him; and they struck the Canaanites and the Perizzites.

But Adoni-Bezek fled; and they pursued him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his big toes.
