  1. Moreover also I gave them my Sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.

  2. But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they didn’t walk in my statutes, and they rejected my ordinances, which if a man keep, he shall live in them; and my Sabbaths they greatly profaned. Then I said I would pour out my wrath on them in the wilderness, to consume them.

  3. because they rejected my ordinances, and didn’t walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.

  4. and make my Sabbaths holy; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am the LORD your God.

  8. Moreover this they have done to me: they have defiled my sanctuary in the same day, and have profaned my Sabbaths.

  9. In a controversy they shall stand to judge; according to my ordinances shall they judge it: and they shall keep my laws and my statutes in all my appointed feasts; and they shall make my Sabbaths holy.

  10. Thus says the Lord GOD: The gate of the inner court that looks toward the east shall be shut the six working days; but on the Sabbath day it shall be opened, and on the day of the new moon it shall be opened.

  11. The people of the land shall worship at the door of that gate before the LORD on the Sabbaths and on the new moons.

  12. The burnt offering that the prince shall offer to the LORD shall be on the Sabbath day six lambs without defect and a ram without defect;

  13. and the meal offering shall be an efah for the ram, and the meal offering for the lambs as he is able to give, and a hin of oil to an efah.

  14. I will also cause all her celebrations to cease: her feasts, her new moons, her Sabbaths, and all her solemn assemblies.

  15. Saying, ‘When will the new moon be gone, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may market wheat, making the efah small, and the shekel large, and dealing falsely with balances of deceit;

  16. At that time, Yeshua went on the Sabbath day through the grain fields. His disciples were hungry and began to pluck heads of grain and to eat.

  17. But the Pharisees, when they saw it, said to him, “Behold, your disciples do what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath.”

  18. But he said to them, “Haven’t you read what David did, when he was hungry, and those who were with him;

  19. how he entered into God’s house, and ate the show bread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for those who were with him, but only for the priests?

  20. Or have you not read in the Torah, that on the Sabbath day, the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath, and are guiltless?

  21. But I tell you that one greater than the temple is here.

  22. But if you had known what this means, ‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,’ you would not have condemned the guiltless.

  23. For the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”

  24. And behold there was a man with a withered hand. They asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath day?” that they might accuse him.

  25. He said to them, “What man is there among you, who has one sheep, and if this one falls into a pit on the Sabbath day, won’t he grab on to it, and lift it out?
