Don’t be afraid because of them; for I am with you to deliver you,” says the LORD.

Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.

They bend their tongue, as their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they don’t know me, says the LORD.

Take heed everyone of his neighbor, and don’t trust in any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will go about with slanders.

They will deceive everyone his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.

Your habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, says the LORD.

Therefore thus says the LORD of Hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how should I deal with the daughter of my people?

The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

The LORD said to me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear the words of this covenant, and do them.

The LORD gave me knowledge of it, and I knew it: then you showed me their doings.

Thus says the LORD to me, Go, and buy yourself a linen belt, and put it on your waist, and don’t put it in water.

So I bought a belt according to the LORD’s word, and put it on my waist.
