and come and stand before me in this house, which is called by my name, and say, ‛We are delivered;’ that you may do all these abominations?
Has this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I, even I, have seen it,” says the LORD.
“But go now to my place which was in Shiloh, where I caused my name to dwell at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.
Now, because you have done all these works,” says the LORD, “and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you didn’t hear; and I called you, but you didn’t answer:
therefore will I do to the house which is called by my name, in which you trust, and to the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I did to Shiloh.
But if they will not hear, then I will pluck up that nation, plucking up and destroying it, says the LORD.
But if you will not hear it, my soul shall weep in secret for your pride; and my eye shall weep bitterly, and run down with tears, because the LORD’s flock is taken captive.
if that nation, concerning which I have spoken, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do to them.
But if they had stood in my council, then had they caused my people to hear my words, and had turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.
It shall happen, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, says the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Kasdim; and I will make it desolate forever.
Moab has been at ease from his youth, and he has settled on his lees, and has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither has he gone into captivity: therefore his taste remains in him, and his scent is not changed.
We have heard of the pride of Moab. He is very proud; his loftiness, and his pride, and his arrogance, and the haughtiness of his heart.
I know his wrath, says the LORD, that it is nothing; his boastings have worked nothing.
Flee out of the midst of Babylon, and save every man his life; don’t be cut off in her iniquity: for it is the time of the LORD’s vengeance; he will render to her a recompense.
You who dwell on many waters, abundant in treasures, your end has come, the measure of your covetousness.
