  1. Therefore behold, the days come, says the LORD, that I will execute judgment on her engraved images; and through all her land the wounded shall groan.

  16. by your great wisdom and by your traffic you have increased your riches, and your heart is lifted up because of your riches—

  17. therefore, behold, I will bring strangers on you, the terrible of the nations; and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom, and they shall defile your brightness.

  18. They shall bring you down to the pit; and you shall die the death of those who are slain, in the heart of the seas.

  19. Will you yet say before him who kills you, I am God? but you are man, and not God, in the hand of him who wounds you.

  20. You shall die the death of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, says the Lord GOD.

  21. When they came to the nations, where they went, they profaned my holy name; in that men said of them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone out of his land.

  22. I will sanctify my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the LORD, says the Lord GOD, when I shall be sanctified in you before their eyes.

  23. Hear the LORD’s word, you children of Israel; for the LORD has a charge against the inhabitants of the land: “Indeed there is no truth, nor goodness, nor knowledge of God in the land.

  24. There is cursing, lying, murder, stealing, and committing adultery; they break boundaries, and bloodshed causes bloodshed.

  25. Israel, return to the LORD your God; for you have fallen because of your sin.
