  1. ¶ And the second lot came forth to Simeon, even for the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families: and their inheritance was within the inheritance of the children of Judah.

  2. And they had in their inheritance Beersheba, or Sheba, and Moladah,

  4. And Eltolad, and Bethul, and Hormah,

  5. And Ziklag, and Bethmarcaboth, and Hazarsusah,

  8. And all the villages that were round about these cities to Baalathbeer, Ramath of the south. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Simeon according to their families.

  9. And Judah said unto Simeon his brother, Come up with me into my lot, that we may fight against the Canaanites; and I likewise will go with thee into thy lot. So Simeon went with him.

  10. And Judah went with Simeon his brother, and they slew the Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.

  15. And their villages were, Etam, and Ain, Rimmon, and Tochen, and Ashan, five cities:

  16. And all their villages that were round about the same cities, unto Baal. These were their habitations, and their genealogy.

  17. And they went to the entrance of Gedor, even unto the east side of the valley, to seek pasture for their flocks.

  18. And they found fat pasture and good, and the land was wide, and quiet, and peaceable; for they of Ham had dwelt there of old.

  19. And these written by name came in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because there was pasture there for their flocks.

  20. And some of them, even of the sons of Simeon, five hundred men, went to mount Seir, having for their captains Pelatiah, and Neariah, and Rephaiah, and Uzziel, the sons of Ishi.

  21. And they smote the rest of the Amalekites that were escaped, and dwelt there unto this day.

  22. Of the children of Simeon, mighty men of valour for the war, seven thousand and one hundred.

  23. ¶ Furthermore over the tribes of Israel: the ruler of the Reubenites was Eliezer the son of Zichri: of the Simeonites, Shephatiah the son of Maachah:

  24. And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.

  25. And so did he in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about.
