  1. And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?

  2. And the captain of the LORD'S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.

  3. The God of Israel said, the Rock of Israel spake to me, He that ruleth over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God.

  4. And he shall be as the light of the morning, when the sun riseth, even a morning without clouds; as the tender grass springing out of the earth by clear shining after rain.

  5. ¶ Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

  6. The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

  7. Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

  8. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

  9. Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

  10. ¶ Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

  11. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.

  12. Lift up your heads, O ye gates; even lift them up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory shall come in.

  13. Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory. Selah.

  14. Counsel is mine, and sound wisdom: I am understanding; I have strength.

  15. By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

  16. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

  17. ¶ And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.

  18. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.

  19. And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;

  20. And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:

  21. But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, and reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: and he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, and with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked.

  22. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.

  23. I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

  24. To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.

  25. ¶ Thus saith the LORD, Where is the bill of your mother's divorcement, whom I have put away? or which of my creditors is it to whom I have sold you? Behold, for your iniquities have ye sold yourselves, and for your transgressions is your mother put away.
