  1. And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me excused.

  3. So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in hither the poor, and the maimed, and the halt, and the blind.

  7. ¶ Then began he to speak to the people this parable; A certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.

  8. And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandmen beat him, and sent him away empty.

  9. And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

  10. And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.

  11. Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him when they see him.

  12. But when the husbandmen saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

  13. So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the lord of the vineyard do unto them?

  14. He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.

  15. And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

  16. Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

  17. And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat:

  18. But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

  19. And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death.

  20. And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

  21. ¶ Then took they him, and led him, and brought him into the high priest's house. And Peter followed afar off.

  22. And when they had kindled a fire in the midst of the hall, and were set down together, Peter sat down among them.

  23. But a certain maid beheld him as he sat by the fire, and earnestly looked upon him, and said, This man was also with him.

  24. And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.

  25. And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them. And Peter said, Man, I am not.
