  1. ¶ And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while, and then took his leave of the brethren, and sailed thence into Syria, and with him Priscilla and Aquila; having shorn his head in Cenchrea: for he had a vow.

  2. And he came to Ephesus, and left them there: but he himself entered into the synagogue, and reasoned with the Jews.

  3. When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not;

  4. But bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.

  5. And when he had landed at Caesarea, and gone up, and saluted the church, he went down to Antioch.

  6. And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, strengthening all the disciples.

  7. ¶ And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

  8. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

  9. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

  10. And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the brethren wrote, exhorting the disciples to receive him: who, when he was come, helped them much which had believed through grace:

  11. For he mightily convinced the Jews, and that publickly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus was Christ.

  12. ¶ Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.

  13. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.

  14. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

  15. And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

  16. For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, because he would not spend the time in Asia: for he hasted, if it were possible for him, to be at Jerusalem the day of Pentecost.

  17. ¶ And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church.

  18. And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,

  19. Serving the Lord with all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:

  20. And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have shewed you, and have taught you publickly, and from house to house,

  21. Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.

  22. And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

  23. Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me.

  24. But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

  25. And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
