  1. Wherefore I also said, I will not drive them out from before you; but they shall be as thorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare unto you.

  2. But the sons of Belial shall be all of them as thorns thrust away, because they cannot be taken with hands:

  3. But the man that shall touch them must be fenced with iron and the staff of a spear; and they shall be utterly burned with fire in the same place.

  4. I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers.

  5. I have hated the congregation of evil doers; and will not sit with the wicked.

  6. ¶ They did not destroy the nations, concerning whom the LORD commanded them:

  7. But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.

  8. ¶ Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!

  9. My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.

  10. I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.

  11. Do not I hate them, O LORD, that hate thee? and am not I grieved with those that rise up against thee?

  12. I hate them with perfect hatred: I count them mine enemies.

  13. ¶ My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

  14. If they say, Come with us, let us lay wait for blood, let us lurk privily for the innocent without cause:

  15. Cast in thy lot among us; let us all have one purse:

  16. My son, walk not thou in the way with them; refrain thy foot from their path:

  17. Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:

  18. To deliver thee from the way of the evil man, from the man that speaketh froward things;

  19. ¶ Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.

  20. Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.

  21. ¶ Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go:

  22. Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

  23. For the LORD spake thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,

  24. Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.

  25. ¶ Ephraim, he hath mixed himself among the people; Ephraim is a cake not turned.
