  1. Therefore I suffer all things, for the elects sake, that they might also obtaine the saluation which is in Christ Iesus, with eternall glorie.

  2. Notwithstanding the Lord assisted me, and strengthened me, that by me the preaching might be fully beleeued, and that al the Gentiles should heare: and I was deliuered out of the mouth of the lion.

  9. Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sworde, of weake were made strong, waxed valiant in battell, turned to flight the armies of the aliants.

  10. The women receiued their dead raised to life: other also were racked, and woulde not be deliuered, that they might receiue a better resurrection.

  11. And others haue bene tryed by mockings and scourgings, yea, moreouer by bondes and prisonment.

  12. They were stoned, they were hewen asunder, they were tempted, they were slaine with the sworde, they wandred vp and downe in sheepes skinnes, and in goates skinnes, being destitute, afflicted, and tormented:

  13. Submit your selues to God: resist the deuill, and he will flee from you.

  14. Dearely beloued, I beseeche you, as strangers and pilgrims, abstaine from fleshly lusts, which fight against the soule,

  15. Be sober, and watch: for your aduersarie the deuil as a roaring lyon walketh about, seeking whom he may deuoure:

  16. Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren which are in the world.

  17. I haue written vnto you, fathers, because ye haue knowen him, that is from the beginning. I haue written vnto you, yong men, because ye are strong, and the worde of God abideth in you, and ye haue ouercome that wicked one.

  18. Litle children, ye are of God, and haue ouercome them: for greater is he that is in you, then he that is in this world.

  19. For all that is borne of God, ouercommeth this world: and this is that victorie that hath ouercome this world, euen our faith.

  20. Who is it that ouercommeth this world, but he which beleeueth that Iesus is that Sonne of God?

  21. Beloued, when I gaue al diligece to write vnto you of the common saluation, it was needful for me to write vnto you to exhort you, that yee should earnestly contend for the maintenace of ye faith, which was once giuen vnto the Saintes.

  22. Let him that hath an eare, heare, what the Spirite saith vnto the Churches, To him that ouercommeth, will I giue to eate of the tree of life which is in the middes of the Paradise of God.

  23. Let him that hath an eare, heare what the Spirit saith to the Churches. He that ouercommeth, shall not be hurt of the second death.

  24. Let him that hath an eare, heare what the Spirite saith vnto the Churches. To him that ouercommeth, will I giue to eate of the Manna that is hid, and will giue him a white stone, and in the stone a newe name written, which no man knoweth sauing he that receiueth it.
