  1. Thou spakest then in a vision vnto thine Holy one, and saydest, I haue layde helpe vpon one that is mightie: I haue exalted one chosen out of the people.

  2. Where there is no vision, the people decay: but he that keepeth the Lawe, is blessed.

  8. The vision of Obadiah. Thus saith the Lord God against Edom, We haue heard a rumour from the Lord, and an ambassadour is sent among the heathen: arise, and let vs rise vp against her to battel.

  9. And the Lord answered me, and sayde, Write the vision, and make it plaine vpon tables, that he may runne that readeth it.

  10. And Iesus when hee was baptized, came straight out of the water. And lo, the heaues were opened vnto him, and Iohn saw the Spirit of God descending like a doue, and lighting vpon him.

  11. And after sixe dayes, Iesus tooke Peter, and Iames and Iohn his brother, and brought them vp into an hie mountaine apart,

  12. And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the Sunne, and his clothes were as white as the light.

  13. And beholde, there appeared vnto them Moses, and Elias, talking with him.

  14. Then answered Peter, and saide to Iesus, Master, it is good for vs to be here: if thou wilt, let vs make here three tabernacles, one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.

  15. While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloude shadowed them: and beholde, there came a voyce out of the cloude, saying, This is that my beloued Sonne, in whom I am well pleased: heare him.

  16. And when the disciples heard that, they fell on their faces, and were sore afraide.

  17. Then Iesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraide.

  18. And when they lifted vp their eyes, they sawe no man, saue Iesus onely.

  19. And as they came downe from the moutaine, Iesus charged them, saying, Shewe the vision to no man, vntil the Sonne of man rise againe from the dead.

  20. And assoone as he was come out of the water, Iohn saw the heauens clouen in twaine, and the holy Ghost descending vpon him like a doue.

  21. But the Angel saide vnto him, Feare not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard, and thy wise Elisabet shall beare thee a sonne, and thou shalt call his name Iohn.

  22. And thou shalt haue ioy and gladnes, and many shall reioyce at his birth.

  23. For he shalbe great in the sight of the Lord, and shall neither drinke wine, nor strong drinke: and he shalbe filled with the holy Ghost, euen from his mothers wombe.

  24. And many of the children of Israel shall he turne to their Lord God.

  25. For he shall goe before him in the spirite and power of Elias, to turne the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisedome of the iust men, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
