When therefore he was risen again from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this: and they believed the scripture and the word that Jesus had said.
Search the scriptures: for you think in them to have life everlasting. And the same are they that give testimony of me.
If then you shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
Doth not the scripture say: That Christ cometh of the seed of David and from Bethlehem the town where David was?
They answered and said to him: Art thou also a Galilean? Search the scriptures, and see that out of Galilee a prophet riseth not.
Now you are clean, by reason of the word which I have spoken to you.
But when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will teach you all truth. For he shall not speak of himself: but what things soever he shall hear, he shall speak. And the things that are to come, he shall shew you.
I have manifested thy name to the men whom thou hast given me out of the world. Thine they were: and to me thou gavest them. And they have kept thy word.
Sanctify them in truth. Thy word is truth.
But these are written, that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God: and that believing, you may have life in his name.
Men, brethren, the scripture must needs be fulfilled, which the Holy Ghost spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who was the leader of them that apprehended Jesus:
To him all the prophets give testimony, that by his name all receive remission of sins, who believe in him.
And after the reading of the law and the prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying: Ye men, brethren, if you have any word of exhortation to make to the people, speak.
For they that inhabited Jerusalem and the rulers thereof, not knowing him, nor the voices of the prophets which are read every sabbath, judging him, have fulfilled them.
Now these were more noble than those in Thessalonica, who received the word with all eagerness, daily searching the scriptures, whether these things were so.
For with much vigour he convinced the Jews openly, shewing by the scriptures that Jesus is the Christ.
And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, who is able to build up and to give an inheritance among all the sanctified.
Which he had promised before, by his prophets, in the holy scriptures,
Much every way. First indeed, because the words of God were committed to them.
For what things soever were written were written for our learning: that, through patience and the comfort of the scriptures, we might have hope.
(Which now is made manifest by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the precept of the eternal God, for the obedience of faith) known among all nations:
That, as it is written: He that glorieth may glory in the Lord.
But to us God hath revealed them by his Spirit. For the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
For what man knoweth the things of a man, but the spirit of a man that is in him? So the things also that are of God, no man knoweth, but the Spirit of God.
Now, we have received not the spirit of this world, but the Spirit that is of God: that we may know the things that are given us from God.
