Bible Verses About Prayer
Key Bible Verses
And he said to them: This kind can go out by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.
And departing from thence, they passed through Galilee: and he would not that any man should know it.
Therefore I say unto you, all things, whatsoever you ask when ye pray, believe that you shall receive: and they shall come unto you.
And when you shall stand to pray, forgive, if you have aught against any man: that your Father also, who is in heaven, may forgive you your sins.
And whilst they were eating, Jesus took bread; and blessing, broke and gave to them and said: Take ye. This is my body.
And having taken the chalice, giving thanks, he gave it to them. And they all drank of it.
And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray: and he passed the whole night in the prayer of God.
And when he had heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the ancients of the Jews, desiring him to come and heal his servant.
And taking the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven and blessed them: and he broke and distributed to his disciples, to set before the multitude.
And it came to pass that as he was in a certain place praying, when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him: Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
And he said to them: When you pray, say: Father, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins, for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation.
And he said to them: Which of you shall have a friend and shall go to him at midnight and shall say to him: Friend, lend me three loaves,
Because a friend of mine is come off his journey to me and I have not what to set before him.
And he from within should answer and say: Trouble me not; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed. I cannot rise and give thee.
Yet if he shall continue knocking, I say to you, although he will not rise and give him because he is his friend; yet, because of his importunity, he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
And I say to you: Ask, and it shall be given you: seek, and you shall find: knock, and it shall be opened to you.
For every one that asketh receiveth: and he that seeketh findeth: and to him that knocketh it shall be opened:
And which of you, if he ask his father bread, will he give him a stone? Or a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
Or if he shall ask an egg, will he reach him a scorpion?
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father from heaven give the good Spirit to them that ask him?
And he spoke also a parable to them, that we ought always to pray and not to faint,
Saying: There was a judge in a certain city, who feared not God nor regarded man.
And there was a certain widow in that city; and she came to him, saying: Avenge me of my adversary.
