  1. This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Peoples will yet come—the residents of many cities—

  2. and the residents of one city will go to another, saying: ‘Let us go at once to plead before the LORD and to seek the LORD of Hosts. I myself am going.’

  3. And many peoples and strong nations will come to seek the LORD of Hosts in Jerusalem and to plead before the LORD.”

  4. This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue will tightly grasp the robe of a Jew, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”

  5. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.

  6. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you.

  7. Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.

  8. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

  9. Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?

  10. Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake?

  11. So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

  12. In everything, then, do to others as you would have them do to you. For this is the essence of the Law and the Prophets.

  13. Blessed are you who hunger now, for you will be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.

  14. So I tell you: Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and the door will be opened to you.

  15. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

  16. What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead?

  17. Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?

  18. So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”

  19. “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door. For many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able.

  20. “If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters—yes, even his own life—he cannot be My disciple.

  21. And whoever does not carry his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple.

  22. Which of you, wishing to build a tower, does not first sit down and count the cost to see if he has the resources to complete it?

  23. Otherwise, if he lays the foundation and is unable to finish the work, everyone who sees it will ridicule him,

  24. saying, ‘This man could not finish what he started to build.’

  25. Or what king on his way to war with another king will not first sit down and consider whether he can engage with ten thousand men the one coming against him with twenty thousand?
