  1. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come peoples, and the inhabitants of many cities;

  2. and the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, Let us go speedily to entreat the favor of Jehovah, and to seek Jehovah of hosts: I will go also.

  3. Yea, many peoples and strong nations shall come to seek Jehovah of hosts in Jerusalem, and to entreat the favor of Jehovah.

  4. Thus saith Jehovah of hosts: In those days it shall come to pass, that ten men shall take hold, out of all the languages of the nations, they shall take hold of the skirt of him that is a Jew, saying, We will go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.

  5. Blessed are they that hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

  6. But seek ye first his kingdom, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

  7. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

  8. for every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

  9. Or what man is there of you, who, if his son shall ask him for a loaf, will give him a stone;

  10. or if he shall ask for a fish, will give him a serpent?

  11. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father who is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

  12. All things therefore whatsoever ye would that men should do unto you, even so do ye also unto them: for this is the law and the prophets.

  13. Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled. Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

  14. And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.

  15. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

  16. And of which of you that is a father shall his son ask a loaf, and he give him a stone? or a fish, and he for a fish give him a serpent?

  17. Or if he shall ask an egg, will he give him a scorpion?

  18. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

  19. Strive to enter in by the narrow door: for many, I say unto you, shall seek to enter in, and shall not be able.

  20. If any man cometh unto me, and hateth not his own father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

  21. Whosoever doth not bear his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.

  22. For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doth not first sit down and count the cost, whether he have wherewith to complete it?

  23. Lest haply, when he hath laid a foundation, and is not able to finish, all that behold begin to mock him,

  24. saying, This man began to build, and was not able to finish.

  25. Or what king, as he goeth to encounter another king in war, will not sit down first and take counsel whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
