  1. And the tidings reached the king of Nineveh, and he arose from his throne, and laid his robe from him, and covered him with sackcloth, and sat in ashes.

  2. And he made proclamation and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste anything; let them not feed, nor drink water;

  3. but let them be covered with sackcloth, both man and beast, and let them cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in his hands.

  4. Who knoweth whether God will not turn and repent, and turn away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?

  5. And they came into the house and saw the young child with Mary his mother; and they fell down and worshipped him; and opening their treasures they offered unto him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.

  6. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world for a testimony unto all the nations; and then shall the end come.

  7. Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit:

  8. And the gospel must first be preached unto all the nations.

  9. And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to the whole creation.

  10. and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name unto all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.

  11. Ye are witnesses of these things.

  12. Now on the morrow, as they were on their journey, and drew nigh unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour:

  13. and he became hungry, and desired to eat: but while they made ready, he fell into a trance;

  14. and he beholdeth the heaven opened, and a certain vessel descending, as it were a great sheet, let down by four corners upon the earth:

  15. wherein were all manner of fourfooted beasts and creeping things of the earth and birds of the heaven.

  16. And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter; kill and eat.

  17. But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten anything that is common and unclean.

  18. And a voice came unto him again the second time, What God hath cleansed, make not thou common.

  19. And this was done thrice: and straightway the vessel was received up into heaven.

  20. Now while Peter was much perplexed in himself what the vision which he had seen might mean, behold, the men that were sent by Cornelius, having made inquiry for Simon’s house, stood before the gate,

  21. and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, were lodging there.

  22. And while Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

  23. But arise, and get thee down, and go with them, nothing doubting: for I have sent them.

  24. And as they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

  25. Then, when they had fasted and prayed and laid their hands on them, they sent them away.
