  1. I charge thee in the sight of God, and Christ Jesus, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing by partiality.

  2. Thou therefore, my child, be strengthened in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

  3. And the things which thou hast heard from me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

  8. But be thou sober in all things, suffer hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfil thy ministry.

  9. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith:

  10. For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that were wanting, and appoint elders in every city, as I gave thee charge;

  11. For the bishop must be blameless, as God’s steward; not self-willed, not soon angry, no brawler, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre;

  12. but given to hospitality, a lover of good, sober-minded, just, holy, self-controlled;

  13. holding to the faithful word which is according to the teaching, that he may be able both to exhort in the sound doctrine, and to convict the gainsayers.

  14. For there are many unruly men, vain talkers and deceivers, specially they of the circumcision,

  15. whose mouths must be stopped; men who overthrow whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for filthy lucre’s sake.

  16. This testimony is true. For which cause reprove them sharply, that they may be sound in the faith,

  17. These things speak and exhort and reprove with all authority. Let no man despise thee.

  18. And no man taketh the honor unto himself, but when he is called of God, even as was Aaron.

  19. Remember them that had the rule over you, men that spake unto you the word of God; and considering the issue of their life, imitate their faith.

  20. Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit to them: for they watch in behalf of your souls, as they that shall give account; that they may do this with joy, and not with grief: for this were unprofitable for you.

  21. Pray for us: for we are persuaded that we have a good conscience, desiring to live honorably in all things.

  22. if any man speaketh, speaking as it were oracles of God; if any man ministereth, ministering as of the strength which God supplieth: that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, whose is the glory and the dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

  23. Tend the flock of God which is among you, exercising the oversight, not of constraint, but willingly, according to the will of God; nor yet for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind;

  24. neither as lording it over the charge allotted to you, but making yourselves ensamples to the flock.

  25. And when the chief Shepherd shall be manifested, ye shall receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away.
