  1. The sun and moon stood still in the sky, at the light of your arrows as they went, at the shining of your glittering spear.

  13. Blessed are those who have been persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven.

  14. “Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

  15. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven. For that is how they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

  16. “You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt has lost its flavor, with what will it be salted? It is then good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under the feet of men.

  17. You are the light of the world. A city located on a hill can’t be hidden.

  18. Neither do you light a lamp, and put it under a measuring basket, but on a stand; and it shines to all who are in the house.

  19. Even so, let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

  20. See the birds of the sky, that they don’t sow, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns. Your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you of much more value than they?

  21. “Which of you, by being anxious, can add one moment to his lifespan?

  22. Why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow. They don’t toil, neither do they spin,

  23. yet I tell you that even Solomon in all his glory was not dressed like one of these.

  24. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today exists, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, won’t he much more clothe you, you of little faith?

  25. “Therefore don’t be anxious, saying, ‘What will we eat?’, ‘What will we drink?’ or, ‘With what will we be clothed?’
