  10. But now thus says the LORD who created you, Jacob, and he who formed you, Israel: “Don’t be afraid, for I have redeemed you. I have called you by your name. You are mine.

  11. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they will not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned, and flame will not scorch you.

  12. For I am the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior. I have given Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in your place.

  13. Since you have been precious and honored in my sight, and I have loved you; therefore I will give people in your place, and nations instead of your life.

  14. Yet listen now, Jacob my servant, and Israel, whom I have chosen.

  15. This is what the LORD who made you, and formed you from the womb, who will help you says: “Don’t be afraid, Jacob my servant; and you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.

  16. Remember these things, Jacob and Israel; for you are my servant. I have formed you. You are my servant. Israel, you will not be forgotten by me.

  17. I have blotted out, as a thick cloud, your transgressions, and, as a cloud, your sins. Return to me, for I have redeemed you.

  18. Sing, heavens; and be joyful, earth; and break out into singing, mountains: for the LORD has comforted his people, and will have compassion on his afflicted.

  19. But Zion said, “The LORD has forsaken me, and the Lord has forgotten me.”

  20. “Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, these may forget, yet I will not forget you!

  21. Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands; your walls are continually before me.

  22. Your children make haste; your destroyers and those who made you waste shall go out from you.

  23. Why, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there no one to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it can’t redeem? or have I no power to deliver? Behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stink, because there is no water, and die for thirst.

  24. I clothe the heavens with blackness, and I make sackcloth their covering.”

  25. For your Maker is your husband; the LORD of Hosts is his name: and the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; the God of the whole earth shall he be called.
