  1. For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.

  2. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

  3. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.

  4. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

  5. ¶ And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

  6. That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;

  7. And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.

  8. To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

  9. Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

  10. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

  11. Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind,

  12. And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.

  13. If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:

  14. ¶ To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,

  15. Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

  16. Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.

  17. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked.

  18. Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

  19. ¶ And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

  20. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

  21. And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.

  22. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.

  23. And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

  24. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
