  1. Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire, and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

  12. For this people's heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

  13. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

  14. Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me.

  15. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

  16. And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

  17. For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

  18. And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear: with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you: and unto you that hear shall more be given.

  19. For he that hath, to him shall be given: and he that hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he hath.

  20. And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

  21. Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

  22. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

  23. And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.

  24. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.

  25. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.
