  1. And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers, and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not me, saith the LORD of hosts.

  2. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

  3. But forasmuch as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be made.

  4. And he would not: but went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt.

  5. Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on thy fellowservant, even as I had pity on thee?

  6. For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.

  7. And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

  8. And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace,

  9. Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

  10. Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

  11. And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken;

  12. The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

  13. And straightway he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the ship with the hired servants, and went after him.

  14. And some began to spit on him, and to cover his face, and to buffet him, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.

  15. And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.

  16. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!

  17. He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.

  18. If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?

  19. And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man's, who shall give you that which is your own?

  20. And it came to pass, that when he was returned, having received the kingdom, then he commanded these servants to be called unto him, to whom he had given the money, that he might know how much every man had gained by trading.

  21. Then came the first, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained ten pounds.

  22. And the second came, saying, Lord, thy pound hath gained five pounds.

  23. For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

  24. But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

  25. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
