  1. And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

  2. Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.

  3. For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;

  4. ¶ Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed.

  5. And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

  6. Exhort servants to be obedient unto their own masters, and to please them well in all things; not answering again;

  7. Not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things.

  8. Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable to thee and to me:

  9. Not now as a servant, but above a servant, a brother beloved, specially to me, but how much more unto thee, both in the flesh, and in the Lord?

  10. Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:

  11. Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.

  12. Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the good and gentle, but also to the froward.

  13. For this is thankworthy, if a man for conscience toward God endure grief, suffering wrongfully.

  14. For what glory is it, if, when ye be buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.

  15. For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

  16. While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.
