  1. And if he shall come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.

  2. Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.

  3. Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death.

  4. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

  5. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

  6. If ye love me, keep my commandments.

  7. Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

  8. But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

  9. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

  10. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

  11. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

  12. But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.

  13. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

  14. But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.

  15. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

  16. ¶ Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

  17. ¶ Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.

  18. For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

  19. For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

  20. So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

  21. Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

  22. As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:

  23. ¶ And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

  24. He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

  25. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.
